HSRP Tracking

I have two 6509's each with one MSFC configured for HSRP and I am tracking their egress links. HSRP is working fine; I am having a problem with tracking. MSFC 1 tracking behaves the way it should. I shut down its egress link and the priority decrements by 10 and the active MSFC goes standby. The active states on MSFC 2 will not go standby when its egress link is shut down. The priority decrements from 110 to 100, but the active state will not change to standby. I am using IOS 12.1(8a)E4. I do not think it is IOS since it is working on the other MSFC. Any ideas?????????

Re: HSRP Tracking

Are you using the preempt command? If not a secondary will not become primary if it's priority becomes highest.

Is the priority dropping below the secondary or just equalling it? Put a 20 at the end of the track statement to drop the priority by 20 and not just the default 10.

Re: HSRP Tracking

Changing the default from 10 to 20 resolved the problem.
