HSRP Virtual IP mac mis match

I have configured multiple HSRP group on cisco 7206.

I have faced a problem in one of my data vlan group that the users are not able to access the virtual IP of this group. On analysis I found that the MAC address for the HSRP IP was different in both Active and Standby Routers [ Incorrect on Standby ]. I had to clear the arp table and then it took the same one. I have seen this happening in another HSRP group earlier.

Can anybody have any Idea on this ?

Re: HSRP Virtual IP mac mis match

Yes, I have seen this issue where some ethernet interfaces allows you to have only one mac- addresss and does give some features. In your case, it has taken the same mac after the arp table refresh. I am not sure this will fit here, but still want to give you a hint and might work for you.

Please check the use of burn-in-address in the following link.

HTH, Please retae if it does.
