HSRP & VRRP Together

I have a VRRP Router Redundant Network in existance.

I Installed a Cisco HSRP Router Network. Both groups of routers are running RIP Ver 2. When I connected the New cisco routers running HSRP the Existing

default VRRP gateway appeared to change pointing devices towards the New HSRP routers. I believe that VRRP & HSRP are not compatible. However it appears that the HSRP address went active and became the default gateway for all routers both Cisco & Nortel.

Please let me know if this is possible,

My VRRP priorities are 254 & 100 with no tracking.

My HSRP priorities are 60 & 50 with tracking on a s0/0 circuit .

I look forward to any information regarding this problem.

Many Thanks

Re: HSRP & VRRP Together

I think this possible. HSRP and VRRP basically does the same thing, but Cisco only supports HSRP.

If there is a segment that is running both protocols they will not work together, but they will not create any conflicts either, I guess.
