HSRP without stanby priority command

Hi,

I have two wan routers configs are listed below:

interface FastEthernet5/0/0 for first wan router

ip address 10.0.1.3 255.255.255.128

no ip route-cache

no ip mroute-cache

full-duplex

standby ip 10.0.1.9

standby preempt

the second wan router HSRP config is as follows:

interface FastEthernet5/0/0

description Connected with S55HOF01

ip address 10.0.1.4 255.255.255.128

no ip route-cache

no ip mroute-cache

full-duplex

standby ip 10.0.1.9

standby preempt

according to the config both router will be the active router since priority is not configured, why would somebody wants to do this config any idea, i would say our HSRP is not even working.

Please help.

Re: HSRP without stanby priority command

Javed,

In an HSRP tie of priority the highest IP wins. So the router with 10.0.1.4 should be active. See this URL:

Hope this helps you.

Regards,

Don
