I am running 12.0.9 Enterprise+ image on 2501. Trying to configue isis routing. When i try to enter the NET i get the following message: %CLNS: System ID (0000.000C.4A57.00) must not change when defining additional area addresses. This is not the correct

MAC address of ethernet interace is:

R2#sho int

Ethernet0 is up, line protocol is up

Hardware is Lance, address is 0000.0c4a.5747 (bia 0000.0c4a.5747)

When I try to configure the NET I get this message:

R2(config)#router isis

R2(config-router)#net 00.0100.0000.0c4a.5747

%CLNS: System ID (0000.000C.4A57.00) must not change when defining additional area addresses

Afterword I do a "sho run" and although I see the "router isis" entry, there is no NET address listed under it.

What am I doing wrong? Both interface are up between the two routers and I can ping each router's interface from the other. Thanks for your help.

I have seen this before, and found the following helps:-

1)clear the isis routing protocol

(config)#no router isis

2)then start it again

(config)#router isis

3)then enter the net command, and include a selector bit at the end

(config-router)#net 00.0100.0000.0c4a.5747.00
