I have a Cisco 2621 router, and I try go to ROM Monitor mode.

After the router power on, I press Ctrl-F6-Break to generate the break sequence. Then, I disconnect the terminal and reconnect it with a 9600 baud rate. However, the output of the screen looks a non-human language.

I try to go to the ROM Monitor mode, but fail.

I am using Hyperterminal(version 595160), and Operating System: Windows 95

Please, help me to solve this issue !

I think the "non-human language" is because of a speed mismatch.

Please make sure that you have the Step 1 done on the url below;

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/routers/ps259/products_password_recovery09186a0080094675.shtml

Use the following terminal settings:

9600 baud rate

No parity

8 data bits

1 stop bit

No flow control

For additional information on cabling and connecting a terminal to the console port or the AUX port, refer to the following documents:

Cabling Guide for Console and AUX Ports on Cisco Routers
