I need comments about Cisco 3662-AC/DC-CO

I need comments about Cisco 3662-AC/DC-CO Multiservice Access Platform for Service Provider Network Operations Connectivity

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/cc/so/cuso/sp/telco/dcn/c3662_ds.htm

look at: Customized Operating Software

Multi area OSI support, 12 OSI areas per chassis, essentially providing the same capabilities as 12 separate OSI routers

Does it mean I can make 12 separate routing tables on one 3662-AC/DC-OO?

Re: I need comments about Cisco 3662-AC/DC-CO

Not 12 separate routing tables. 12 separate ISO areas. Multiarea was designed for the telco environment were there was a requirement to manage Sonet equipment on a Sonet ring via CLNS (this does not work with IP). In the past a pair (if redundancy was wanted) of routers was needed per ring. Now two routers (3662's for example) can support multiple (up to 12) areas/rings instead of needing 24 routers. Also in this configuration there is only one L2 instance. All other isis processes are L1 only.

Here is a link on Multiarea if you need further explaination:

Hope this helps explain,

Don
