I wanna see all the IP address on a 3500 switch

Hi,

I have a 3500 switch connected with about 10-15 cables.

There are dynamic VLANs configured as well as 2 other 3 other switches connected.

How do I see all the IP addresses of the boxes that are connected to the switch because all I can see is the mac address table and the port of that particular MAC address.

Regards,

Sind

Re: I wanna see all the IP address on a 3500 switch

Hello Sind,

unfortunately, AFAIK, there is still no reverse Address Resolution Protocol tool available. You need to go to a router that is connected to your switch/segment and issue the command

- show arp | include (mac address) -

on that router. This command will give you the IP addresses belonging to the MAC addresses you have found on the switch. A little bit of detective work I guess...

If you want to know which person is actually using that IP address, go to a MS Windows machine and enter the following command:

NBTSTAT -A (ip address)

This will give you the name of the machine and most of the times the ID of the person logged into it.

HTH,

Georg
