are there any known problems to coupling an IBM 3746 (Pu4 NCP) with an other IBM 3746 (Pu4 NCP) over DLSw Peers?
Both Pu4 are located in an Token Ring so the FEP to FEP Communication is LLC2 to LLC2 over Dlsw.
Sometimes our sessions get asleep although the DLSw Peer is active and the circuits are established. Is it possible that the Virtual Route Pacing Request/Response is not recovered by DLSw (TCP) if an packet is dropped in the WAN ? And could this cause a problem ?
Are there other , perhaps better techniques, to connect 2 IBM 3746 (Pu4 NCP) over a WAN ?
Re: IBM 3746 (Pu4 NCP) to IBM 3746 (Pu4 NCP) via DLSw
There is an issue with PU4 - PU4 connections via DLSW when there are multiple paths between them which can cause sessions to be suddenly dropped. The RIF passthru feature was brought out to get round this. See the following URL for more information -
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
