IBM 8274 gigE to Catalyst 3500XL

I'm trying to connect the mentioned gigE ports between these two device but is not able to get a successful link established. I've checked cables and ports but noi luck. Any ideas or things to check?

This may be an autonegotiation issue. The 8274 may have autonegotiation disabled by default. Either enable autonegotiation on the 8274 or disable autonegotiation on the 3500XL using the no negotiation auto command in interface configuration mode. Just be sure both sides are configured the same.
