IDB port channels

What is a IDB port-channel and it's uses? I want to use a port-channel as the source using the monitor command and the switch support people say can not do.

Here is example of what I want them to do.

monitor session 10 source interface port-channel 1 both

monitor session 10 destination interface Gi6/47

You can use a port-channel as a span source port on a Cisco switch.

Are you getting any error message when trying to configure this type of monitoring?
