idel timer

Cisco Internetwork Operating System Software

IOS (tm) C2600 Software (C2600-IS-M), Version 12.2(7), RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

--output discarded--

interface Dialer1

ip address negotiated

ip nat outside

encapsulation ppp

dialer in-band

dialer idle-timeout 300 either

--output discarded--

My config as above for my ISDN line to disconnected when idle 300 sec, but even the packet going thru the line the idle-timeout wont reset. I'd tested with continuos ping when "show isdn history" the seconds idle keep on increasing till 300sec and the router disconnect the line. What will happen the application need to trigger the dialer again. Anybody know the solution?

Re: idel timer

Make sure you have "dialer-group"

configured and tied to an access-

list that defines interesting traffic.

Otherwise, nothing is interesting

and the idle-timer is never reset.

Normally, it will only be reset

whenever there are "interesting"

packets, ie packets that pass your

access-lists.
