In the ATM PVC command, what's the value in bps for 1kbps ? 1000bps or 1024bps.

if i were to have a PVC circuit of 1000000bps from carrier, what value should i put in the router ATM PVC command which is in kbps ? 1000 or 976 ? So 1kbps = 1024bps or 1000bps ?
