10GBASE-CX4 XENPAK supports 15m over 8 pair Infiniband cable.

I'd like to see a server that could sustain that kind of traffic rate......

Does anyone seriously need more than 100Mbps to a server?

Just my 2 cents.

Hey Andy, my ftp backup file server had an average load of 60mbps :) per day [it was used as the offsite location to backup the data from over 20 different locations] . Budget considerations would not let us purchase additional servers for load balancing or SAN devices.

The hard drives do take a beating though. Even with RAID we had quite a few problems.

So there will definitely be more scenarios just like the same :)
