interface on 2924XL keeps shutting down

I enabled an interface on a 2924XL Switch which is a usual business but this time the interface goes down right away. Checked the inteface and got:

FastEthernet0/9 is down, line protocol is down...

Checked the log and got this:

Jun 1 19:55:01.927: %LINK-CLUSTER_MEMBER_3-3-UPDOWN: Interface FastEthernet0/9, changed state to up

Jun 1 19:55:01.964: %LINK-CLUSTER_MEMBER_3-3-UPDOWN: Interface FastEthernet0/9, changed state to down.

interface is in VLANX and is used for a laptop to get to a server in different location.

I tried the line in cisco web site, but there is no links for this error...

Any idea?

Re: interface on 2924XL keeps shutting down

Glad someone else is getting this error! spent a LOT of time on this, got nowhere at all. Customer refuses to pay for TAC call so I ended up shutting the port down.

Re: interface on 2924XL keeps shutting down

It is likely that the interface is in a vlan that does not exist in the vtp-domain.

You will then see the interface vlan-X is in shutdown state. Ports in this vlan will not give a green link-led and behave as described.

Typically for your situation this can also be caused by incorrect vtp-settings.

Check your vtp domain name and sychronization (config-revision)
