this is what i recieve on the reload of a cisco catalyst 2950xl any ideas why? or is it just cause they are dead?
C2900xl POST: Ethernet Controller Test: Passed
C2900xl POST FAILURE: front-end post: FastEthernet0/9:
C2900xl POST FAILURE: looped-back packet not received
C2900xl POST FAILURE: front-end post: FastEthernet0/10:
C2900xl POST FAILURE: looped-back packet not received
C2900xl POST FAILURE: front-end post: FastEthernet0/11:
C2900xl POST FAILURE: looped-back packet not received
C2900xl POST FAILURE: front-end post: FastEthernet0/12:
C2900xl POST FAILURE: looped-back packet not received
C2900xl POST: MII Test: Passed
why only those 4 ports? are they somehow within the same circuit seperate from others? regards-mike

The front panel ports are grouped in 4's which in turn connect to an ASIC. Looks like the ASIC which connects to fa0/9 to 0/12 has gone bad

Interesting , we just had a 2924 fail today with the exact same messages , call the TAC if you have maintenance , if not time to break out the pocketbook . :-)

interesting. know of anyway to fix it yourself? probably not eh? oh well guess like TAC is going to be receiving a phone call. thanks

No way to fix the hardware issue other than doing the RMA. You should be able to use the other ports which are not on that controller though.

The switch will have to be RMAed. Please open a TAC Case
