The 2980g is our core switch and we are trying to introduce a 4506 and move to layer 3. Are they any special port setting on the 4506 connection to the 2980g switch (other than a crossover cable)? Any help here is greatly appreciated.
TIA,
Gary

Hello Gary,
assuming that you probably want a trunk connection between the 2980 and the 4506, just be aware that the 2980 supports 802.1Q trunking only. Other than that, the only thing that I can think of are the pinouts of a crossover cable for Gigabit ports:
1/3
2/6
4/7
5/8

If you want to trunk then just setup both sides as desirable and it will form the trunk . if it doesn't need to be a trunk then just make sure the ports on both sides are in the same vlan .
