Can somebody tell me what's the difference on the following interfaces on 2500: High Speed Sync Serial; Low Speed Async/Sync; High Speed Async Serial and when to use which?

Thanks.

An example of HIgh speed sync serial would be a serial interface used to connect to a leased line T1. Sync serial interfaces with high speeds can run at

speeds upto 1.544 mbps.

Low speed async.sync interface can be run as both async and sync interface. "physical-layer async" command can be used to configure the interface in async mode, while "physical-layer sync" can be used to configure the interface in sync mode. Speeds will be at lower rates compared to the sync serial interface. in Sync mode, such serial interfaces may run upto 128 kbps, while in async mode, they may run at 115.2kbps.

High speed async serial interfaces can run at higher speeds in async mode.

Sync interfaces are used for permanent connections such as leased lines, Frame-relay etc, while Async interfaces are used for dialin/dialout.
