Intermittent problem

Hello,

my idc is having problem with our two mail servers.

There are running win2k and connected directly to the cat 5505 switch. Eg. mail01 is to cat switch1 while mail02 is to cat switch2.

Both of the servers are suppposedly doing load balancing using wlbs. But right now, its does not work that way. Even when the wlbs is uninstalled, the problem is still there.

So we tried connecting both of it to a dumb hub, and it works. No intermittent at all. I need to know what are the things to look at in the switch that may cause this problem. Thanks

Check these few items:

1. Do a sh cam dyn to see if the MAC addresses are showing up on the switches, and also check that there are entries for each adjacent switch.

2. You can also do a show port on the ports the servers are connected to and check for any errors on the port

3. Also examine the line between the switches with a show port. Be sure they are not trying to negotiate a channel or trunk.
