Interview Question1

systems are connected to multilayer modular switch.

SVIs are configured on that switch. VLANs are implemented on layer 2 ports.

now I want to find out the IPs which are connected to which physical interface.

" show ip arp " command output gives only ip address, mac address and vlan interface address only, but it won't show physical ports.

How will you find out which IPs are connected to which physical interface?

Regards

Re: Interview Question1

Once you get the MAC address for the device using the 'show ip arp' command on the RP perform the following command to find the physical port. If it's a CATos switch then do a 'show cam (mac_address)' on the SP and it will show you the port the MAC address is learnt from. On an IOS switch do a 'show mac-address-table address (mac_address)' to trace the port.

Sundar
