Intervlan routing between C3500 and C2950G

I had configured 3 vlans on the C3500 and trunking is enabled. VLAN1 is ok but devices in VLAN10 cannot access VLAN1. They able to ping to VLAN1 managment IP only. What could be the issue?

Re: Intervlan routing between C3500 and C2950G

Hi Friend,

If the prob;em is only with the van 10 mchines not able to ping machines in vlan 1 I m kinda sure there are some firewalls installed on the vlan 1 machines.

Check for the firewall settings if it is windows xp machine as by default firewall is on especially incae of windows xp machine.

Also make sure your trunk is up and up. If you have any machines directly connected to 3550 also and still you face the same problem so check the firewal sttings on machines but only if machines are on 2950 it could be trunk problem also so check the trunking status on 2950 switch with "sh int switchport" command.

Re: Intervlan routing between C3500 and C2950G

If the 3500 switch that you have is an XL switch , then you are pretty much out of luck . Neither 2950 nor 3500XLs can do intervlan routing . You need a router or an L3 switch ( 3550 / 3560 / 3750 / 4k with sup2+ or sup4 or 6k ) to do intervlan routing.

Thanks
