IOS update problem

Trying to upgrade 3620 router with IOS v.12

Have tftp'd successfully to flash (and erased original).

Upon reload, gone into romon mode.

At romon 1 - have issued 'confreg 0x2102' (to ensure boot instructions found in start-up config)

At romon 2 - have issued 'reset'

Getting following message: -

loadprog: error - on read during ELF program load

requested 6693080 (0x6620d8) bytes, got 2951668 (0x2d09f4)

boot: cannot load "flash:"

Have I missed anything glaring!

Thanks in advance

Re: IOS update problem

A system enters the rommon mode if it is unable to find a valid image in the flash. Are you sure you loaded the correct image. Anyways, you should see if a valid image exists anywhere on your router. If none exists, you will need to use the xmodem procedure. The Xmodem procedure for the 3600 is available at

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps259/products_tech_note09186a008015bfac.shtml

The normal IOS upgrade procedure for the 3600 (same as 2500) is available at

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps233/products_tech_note09186a00800a6744.shtml

You could also refer to 'Software Upgrade Procedure' at
