I want to change the IOS in a router 837.

I have loaded the new IOS in the router without delete the oldest one.

I have this in the flash:

System flash directory:

File Length Name/status

1 6039108 c837-k9o3sy6-mz.122-13.ZH.bin (old)

2 6226044 c837-k9o3y6-mz.123-2.T1.bin (new)

[12265280 bytes used, 55488 available, 12320768 total]

12288K bytes of processor board System flash (Read/Write)

I put boot system flash c837-k9o3y6-mz.123-2.T1.bin (this is the new IOS) and when I reload the router it tell me the next:

%SYS-3-IMAGE_TOO_BIG: 'flash:c837-k9o3y6-mz.123-2.T1.bin' is too large for available memory (5874860 bytes).boot of "c837-k9o3y6-mz.123-2.T1.bin" using boot helper "flash:c837-k9o3sy6-mz.122-13.ZH.b

in" failed

error returned: File read failed -- Not enough space

loadprog: error - on file open

boot: cannot load "c837-k9o3y6-mz.123-2.T1.bin"ú

What can I do?

If I delete the oldest IOS, the router will boot well?

Please I need your help!!!!!

Many thanks in advance

Hello,

I would delete the new IOS first and boot from the original one, then erase the flash before loading the new one. The reason I am saying this is because the flash is too small to hold both images, the newer image might not be fully and correctly loaded in flash.

Regards,

Georg

The flash is ok. Both images are there already. The problem is dram. Thats where it loads the image. It looks like it is using the old image as the boot loader so it loads it first then tries to load the second image and does not have enough room for both images at the same time.

Not sure but try taking out the boot system coomand and replace it with "boot bootldr". Or get more dram.

After you delete the old image, make sure you did "squeeze flash" to free up the DRAM space before load another image.
