IP based Dynamic Vlan

Hi Cisco Expert,

Can you advise whether Cat6500 running 6.3 support vlan based on IP subnet. I know dynamic vlan use Mac-address, does it support IP-base then?

If does, how would the switch put DHCP client onto a particular VLAN without knowing its IP address initially?

Appreciate you assistance.

Edmond

Host will have to make network connection first before getting an ip address. You really need VMPS, to assign port to a particular vlan then configure your DHCP scope to assing certain ip address for this vlan. Unless, the host have ip address statically defined, but then there is not feature that will assign a particular port to a certain vlan based on ip address.
