IP Concerns with Windows 2000 -- Maximum Number of Nodes per VLAN

Hello:

I am working on a project where there is a deficit of VLAN numbers in areas of our network. I would like to enlarge the size of our subnets but I am not sure how many Win2k nodes are suggested as a maximum. Additional information--we are running a Gig backbone and 100BTX(FD) to the desktop.

If anyone has a reference from Microsoft, cisco or some other authority, I would be appreciative!

Thank you,

Joshua Mills

Dunno whether I would consider MS an authority when is comes to bandwidth..this the same co that calls a 128 K pipe between sites WELL CONNECTED LOL

However the burning question IMHO is how much traffic is in each vlan.

If the traffic is very low then it can be ports and or cable length that determine the size of the vlans.

If you concern is how much bandwidth does MS hosts need to chat with the AD etc I have PPT that covers all that somewhere.

You can email me at my website which is listed in my bio and I can email it to you.
