IP Conflict on DHCP

Our core network has 2 x 6509 switches with 2 MSFC each. We have configured DHCP on the four router MSFC as follows:

ip dhcp pool Vlan2

network 172.17.2.0 255.255.255.0

domain-name jse.co.za

dns-server 10.3.4.160 10.3.4.161 10.3.4.60 10.3.4.61

default-router 172.17.2.3

netbios-node-type h-node

netbios-name-server 10.3.4.160

lease 30

The problem is that in some instances we get IP conflict when users are connecting to the Network. Any reason for this?

Re: IP Conflict on DHCP

Do you have any exclude statements to cover statically addressed devices (such as default router)?

See the following command reference if you need additional help on this command.

Good luck

Re: IP Conflict on DHCP

I have excluded most of the statically addressed devices, for example;

ip dhcp excluded-address 172.17.2.220 172.17.2.227

ip dhcp excluded-address 172.17.2.0 172.17.2.9

!

ip dhcp pool Customer_Support

host 172.17.2.25 255.255.255.0

client-identifier 0100.0802.ddd2.be

client-name Chris_Grove
