IP Helper-address for DHCP relay

Hello.

When configuring ip helper-address for dhcp requests, does the dhcp request being forwarded immediately, or is there any time interval that the router waits to see if the dhcp request was answered by a local dhcp ?

If there is a time interval, what is the default time the router use ? How can I change it ?

Thank you.

Re: IP Helper-address for DHCP relay

There is no configurable delay-time on broadcast forwarding.

The forwarding of this type of broadcasts can be filtered though.

You can filter out the dhcp requests by using the command:

no ip forward protocol .. Use the keyword "bootp" for dhcp-requests

Leo
