IP helper command

Hi,

If you configure a router with multiple ip helper addresses for DNS (for example). Will the router send a DNS request to all ip helper addresses? Or, will the router try the 1st, wait, then 2nd, ...? Thanks.

Re: IP helper command

Using multiple helper addresses under an interface will allow a UDP broadcast to be sent to each device specified by a "ip helper-address" command. So the router will not send the broadcast to the 1st helper-address then the 2nd but will send it to the first and second at the same time.

HTH,

Dan
