ip host-routing command

Hi,

I am trying to find the documentation for "ip host-routing" command (12.2(15)T on Cisco 1721) ?

Does anyone know, the purpose of this command ?

Sorry, the explanation at this link is fairly poor.

I have a Cat4500 with IOS, and without the "ip host-routing" the device doesn´t even respond to a ping.

Is there any other paper that goes more into details ?
