AOA,

I have L3 (3550) and L2 (2950) switches, if multiple clients are connected through a Single Port on 2950 how can i measure the Actuall Bandwidth utilized by the indivisuall IP or Clinet in a Port.

If i use a "Sh int fas0/3" command this command display the bit rate of the port not each client which are connected through this port.

Thank You.

Hi,

you can configure SPAN on 2950 switch.

connect a sniffer to one of the switchport of 2950, say suppose fa0/1. you want to monitor Rx traffic coming on fa0/3 of 2950, below config needs to be done:

Switch(config)# monitor session 1 source interface fa0/3 rx

Switch(config)# monitor session 1 destination interface fa0/1

Switch# show monitor session 1

Session 1

---------

Source Ports:

RX Only: Fa0/3

TX Only: None

Both: None

Destination Ports: Fa0/1

then from sniffer you can generate the report that what is the BW util by each IP during the period for which sniffer was running.

below URL will give you overview on SPAN on 2950s:

You can try to use PRTG Traffic Grapher it's for up to 3 sensors. http://www.paessler.com/
