IP multicast

Hi,

Is there any additional config required if both multicast sender and receiver on the same subnet and same switch for multicast to work.

S and G are on the same VLAN?

No additional config.

you should...

configure a router to act as the multicast 'handler' (IGMP request handler).

(the device that defines multicast groups and responds to requests from hosts to join the multicast group(s)).

since you stated "is there anything additional...", tell us what you've got so far or post your configuration if possible so we can confirm for you if you're complete or need more config.

(also, you may need CGMP if your hosts connect to certain cisco switches that need to communicate with IGMP)

the configuration is pretty straight forward, especially in smaller networks, so there may not be much for you to complete.

Hi,

Both the sender and receiver on the same subnet and connected to same switch.

we can ping from one host to other.

if both the hosts wants to communicate thro multicast anything to be done on the switch?
