IP Query

Hi ,

I have one query -

I have 2 PCs connected with following IP Address configuration -

PC A - 172.16.8.0/255.255.255.248

PC B - 172.16.4.0/255.255.255.240

Can I ping from PC A to B or vice versa .

Pls advise . It's little bit urgent .

Regards

Re: IP Query

No..You will not be able to ping eachother if those PC's are directly connected to eachother or connected via hub. The reason for that is both the ip address are from the different network.

You will be able to ping if they are connected via routing device which can route packets between two different network.

To fix that, you need to change the ip address so that both can be in the same subnet.

Re: IP Query

Thanks a lot ...

The rule of thumb is -

" Whenever you get IP Address with different Network they can't reach each other without Router ."

Any Internet site is there which will ealborate more on this .
