IP routing performance with Catalyst 3750 EMI software

Hello,

In the Cisco Catalyst 3750 Series Switches Data Sheet I read:

"The EMI provides a richer set of enterprise-class features including advanced hardware-based IP unicast and multicast routing."

Does this means that if we have a SMI image the Ip routing is made through software and not through hardware?.

If this is true which packets per second performance can I expect for routing between VLANs?

Regards.

SMI provides basic RIP and static routing which is still done in hardware. If you need EIGRP/OSPF/BGP you'll need EMI
