I have this inside my route table and I am still unable to hit the 10.121.XX.1, which is our firewall

It doesn't hit the 10.121.XX.1 because it goes straight to the internet

I am confused about your question. You show a static route for 192.168.x.x. This talks about how to get to 192.168.x.x. Apparently the way to get to 192.168.x.x has the firewall as the next hop. Is that what you intend? If a packet with destination address 192.168.x.x gets to the router, gets forwarded to the firewall, does the firewall have a route to 192.168.x.x?

My guess is that the static route is working as it is configured and packets destined for 192.168.x.x are forwarded to the firewall. And the firewall does not have a route to 192.168.x.x and forwards using its default route which sends to the Internet.

If that is not the situation then perhaps you can clarify what the topology is. Where is 192.168.x.x? Where is the firewall relative to the router and relative to 192.168.x.x?

How do you know it's not hitting 10.121.xx.1 while going to the internet ?

If this is a PIX, it will not show as a hop on a traceroute.

Isn't the only way to go to the internet via the firewall ?
