Is ISL feautre for WAN router HW or SW dependant

I just will like to know for Cisco router eg 7206, 3640, 3662 and 2621, is ISL feature supported ? If so, does this depend on the type of Ethernet interface, eg Ethernet or Fast Ethernet or it depends only on the IOS version. Thanks !

To the best of my knowledge it is H/W and S/w dependant, the actual encapsulation takes place via and ASIC so if the ASIC ain't there.. Ouch!!! then the IOS side allows the "encapsulation isl 10" for example.

Also ISL is only supported on Fast Ethernet.

All the routers mentioned above support ISL on FE interfaces and dot1q trunking on all 10 and FE interfaces. It is also good dependent, but ISL support has been around since 11.3 on FE interfaces.
