I am using ISL trunking between a cat-3508G and a cat-6509 as well as from the 3508 to 7 3524's. Additionally, some of these 3524's are at the top of a stack of 6 or more 3524's uplinked via GigaStack GBICs. I now have a 2950 I'd like to add. Can I use 802.1q trunking (since that is the only encapsulation the 2950 supports) to trunk the 2950 to a 3524 that is uplinked to the 3508 via ISL? I want to know if there are any known issues with mixing the two encapsulation types on one switch or within a subnet.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
