Is there a NAT-like mechanism for MAC addresses

Hi all,

I have a unique set a circumstances where it would be very advantageous if I could assign remote incoming tasks to any of 2000+ PCs via referencing a "virtual" MAC address where this mechanism would keep track of which PC the task was forwarded too and how to properly return it the response to the remote requestor. Sorry if this is the wrong forum.

i dont think you have anything like NAT for layer 2...but i feel DHCP/DNS concepts can do the trick for you.....even i am not sure about intircacies of those concepts....
