i'm using the dialer-watch feature to backup a serial link. The ISDN backup link is supposed to go down once the main link is up, however it did not. It stayed up upon activation.
can someone advise me on this ?

It will only go back down if the route you are watching for reappears in thge routing table , was the route back in the table ?

Which routing protocol are you using ? Hope the keepalives of the routing protocol doesnt trigger your ISDN connection....
Also see if the watched route is still on the routing table...

Based on your network and routing protocol you could look at setting up static routes that reference the ISDN interface. Set the administrative distance higher than the routing protocol that you are using.
In addition, you could set the dialer idle-timeout to a low value so that the ISDN link will hang up sooner once the serial link is restored.
