ISDN DDR and host names

I've got a couple of 3640s that provide two-way ISDN DDR. For various reasons they both have the same host name and I have to retain this setup.

Now I want to create a DDR connection between the two, obviously I've run into difficulty authenticating because the hosts name is the same. I'm using good old fashioned dialer interfaces and local usernames (no AAA).

Any ideas how I can get them to connect to each other without changing one of the hosts names? I was wondering if its possible to add the local, as well as the remote, host name in the dialer config.

TIA.

Re: ISDN DDR and host names

This is very well possible, assuuming you are using PPP.

You can make the routers authenticate with a specified username on the dialer. You can enter the username/password on the dialer for the DDR connection as follows:

int di1

....

ppp chap hostname ROUTER1

ppp chap password ...

You wil need to add the hostname in the remote userdatabase i.e.:

user ROUTER1 passw ....
