ISDN Dial out only site configuration

Hi there,

I am trying to test in my lab a customer network with a central site which has to dial out to peripheral sites for ISDN backup (a DCN network).

In central site I am using dialer profiles. The dialer interfece is configured:

interface Dialer1

ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.252

encapsulation ppp

no ip mroute-cache

dialer pool 1

dialer idle-timeout 50

dialer string 0211111111

dialer load-threshold 10 either

dialer-group 1

ppp authentication chap

bridge-group 1

bridge-group 1 output-address-list 701

bridge-group 1 spanning-disabled

In the peripheral site I am using normal DDR configuration:

interface BRI2/0

ip address 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.252

no ip directed-broadcast

encapsulation ppp

dialer idle-timeout 500

dialer string 002222222

dialer-group 1

isdn switch-type basic-net3

no fair-queue

ppp authentication chap

ppp multilink

bridge-group 1

bridge-group 1 output-address-list 701

I am not able to understand why if I do not configure the "dialer string" on both sites, I am not able to get bi-directional traffic (e.g. ping or NMS polling doesn't work)

From the other side configuring the dialer string on both sites I have the problem that the remote site attempt to call the central site giving me errors in the debugs such as (debugging the dial out central site):

1:03:44: ISDN BR1/0: Incoming call id = 0x000B, dsl 1:03:44: ISDN BR1/0: HOST_INCOMING_CALL: DIALER ERROR 1: bchan

3d00h: ISDN BR1/0:1: Incoming call rejected, unbindable.

Could somebody out there help me to understand ?

Re: ISDN Dial out only site configuration

You have

ppp multilink

coded at one site and not the other. I would think that this would cause some problems.

Re: ISDN Dial out only site configuration

Thanks for the suggestion

Do you think that I could avoid as well to configure the dialer string on both sites (central and remote) if I want only to dial out from central site ?

Do you think I should get bi-directional traffic ?

cheers, /P
