ISDN (PRI - BRI) problem - Help required (config & debug included)

Hi everyone,

Quick description of the solution:

Remote router (BRI) should dial the main HQ router (PRI) and it should initiate a callback. At the moment we cannot even get to the callback as some of the numbers do not seem to be 'picked up' by the opposite router.

Here is a summary of the problem:

When the PRI calls the BRI when I issue "show caller xxx":

the PRI side can see the remote number but cannot see the local number

and

the BRI side can see the remote number and the local number

When the PRI is called by the BRI :

the PRI side cannot see the remote number but it can see the local number

and

the BRI side can see the remote number but not the local number.

I can email configs and debugs but an initial idea would be appreciated. Surely someone has seen this before. The PRI router is a 3640 and the BRI is a 2621.

Any ideas would be deeply appreciated,

TIA,

G.:

Re: ISDN (PRI - BRI) problem - Help required (config & debug inc

I think you are trying to use "isdn callerID callback". For that, first, you need to make sure that "callback server" OR the HQ PRI router should receive "calling party number" as 1620123666777 in the isdn SETUP message when it receives the call from BRI router. Based on that number received as callerID, the call will be binded to the "dialer interface" and will get called back.

The debug posted dosen't have incoming SETUP message on HQPRI router so can't say that the call is binded to dialer interface or not.

Now to populate the remote and local number, again, it has to be delivered at both the places via SETUP message. BRI side will know its local number because of SPID is configured on that router with LDN. PRI side will not know that.

Here is the best link which describes config and troubleshooting for "isdn callerID callback"

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/793/access_dial/Isdn_callerID.html

We need to see the debug for

debug isdn q931/ debug ppp nego / debug dialer

on HQ PRI router when bri calls pri.
