Hi All,

What criteria should be matched each other, when two isis peers establish adjacency?

Thanks in advance

Level, hello interval, dead interval, authentication. There may be others... LAN ID perhaps?

Thank you for your reply. But when I tried to change hello interval and dead time on one interface (isis hello-interval and isis hello-multiplier), I still could make neighborship and adjacency. From cisco's ISIS document they said the main criteria are matching authentication, IS-type and MTU size. I need to know if there are other factors. Thanks.

Hi,

has your problem been fixed? I have a similar one...

Vincent

Those three criteria are all that are needed to match, although on certain (e.g. Frame Relay) NBMA types there needs to be a mapping of CLNS to have ISIS come up. Can you describe the details of your problem? Example of your configs might help as well.

Regards,

Don

Here is the other factors that must be met in order to form adjacency:

1: Length of system ID

2. Maximum number of Areas. Previously Cisco support 3 and now it can be set to 255.

3. Authentifcation.

4. Media type i.e. point-to-point or broadcast media
