L2TP termination on 7200 causes high CPU

Hi,

I'm having a strange behaviour when the number of L2TP sessions increase on a 7200 VXR LNS.

STM1 carrying multiple PVC

Multiple LACs (MAXTNT, CVX) --------------------------------------->7200 VXR (LNS) --> Ethernet port ------> 7500 Internet gateway

the main cause of the CPU is the IP Input, which is casued by the fact that all the input packets on the ATM interface is being process switched.

I got a lot of link about the MTU issue casuing fragmentation load on the cpu but with no luck.

Did anyone face a simialr problem, because as per Cisco the 7200 with 512 mRAM can carry 3000+ l2tp session, and I'm talking about session speed of a standard modem (56 kbit/sec max)

We need to know what NPE and image you have on VXR. You can try to run "ip cef" which should bring the cpu usage down.
