L3 Switches

I need to connect a 3500 XL switch with a Foundry Networks GIG SX switch. I see connectivity if i use one of the eth ports, but when I connect them using the Gigabit port the cisco switch doesn't show any connectivity at all. I know the Gb port is ok because I connected this switch to another cisco switch using the Gb port and works.

Check the following link (specifically the auto-negotiation part)

http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/473/53.shtml#gigabit

Try "no negotiation auto " under the interface after reading the above link.

Hi,

Make sure that the GBICs types on both the ends of the link are the same. Also, ensure that link negotiation enabled or disabled on both ends of the link. Both ends of the link must be set to the same value or the link cannot connect.

This document is a good reference when gig link between two devices does not come up.
