Hi,

The output below is a show log from a hp procurve 2600 at a remote site connected via an E1 through the wan in a can network extension solution, to a cisco Cat 3650. STP is enabled in the cisco and RSTP on the procurve.

Could that have an impact?

Could anyone help me out with what this messages might mean and what might be the cause ?

Hello J Mac,

I am currently in charge of a homogeneous HP ProCurve network. I am not amused.

The network is far from stable and CRC/alignment errors occur occasionaly.

I solved a bunch of RSTP related problems by upgrading to a newer software release. The current for the 2600 platform is H8.86 and is publically available.

The logging isn't very useful. Can you see if your trunk ports have a large number of Rx drops?

You can use SNMPGet to see the forward transitions for a particular interface.

MIB 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.2.15.1.10.25 was very helpul. Te last two digites represent port 25, change them in any value for other p2p ports.

Hey Thanks,

Thats very interesting, we are on h8.60 so i have downloaded h6.86 and will update this evening. Can i add this was not my choice of switch. We have 5 cisco cat's 3500's at the other end which all work fine.

many thanks
