LAT Network Traffic Issue

Hi,

Does anyone know the answer to the following question.

If you have a CISCO 2621 router that does not have the LAT module loaded and therefore it does not route LAT, will this have an affect on other LAT traffic on the LAN?

Any answers would be appreciated.

Kind regards,

Anne

Re: LAT Network Traffic Issue

In fact LAT is a non-routable protocol as it does have a layer 3.

Therefore LAT has to be bridged across segments.

A known issue with LAT is that it is quite time-sensitive. Running LAT on a heavily loaded network will almost certainly cause trouble. This might also be the case in your network.

Re: LAT Network Traffic Issue

Hi Leo,

Thanks for responding to my message!

We do not intend to route LAT through the Cisco routers. The cisco routers are used to connect remote sites to the LAN and there is no LAT traffic coming from these remote sites.

I just wanted to know if the LAT traffic on the LAN would be affected with the cisco routers not having LAT on them.

Thanks for your input!

Re: LAT Network Traffic Issue

The routers will not affect your current LAT environment.

Hope this helps.
