late-dropped out pkts

Can anyone tell me the meaning of the "late-dropped out pkts" field in the output of a "show frame-relay pvc" command? Here's a sample:

Router#sh frame-relay pvc interface Serial3/5.49 49

PVC Statistics for interface Serial3/5.49 (Frame Relay DTE)

DLCI = 49, DLCI USAGE = LOCAL, PVC STATUS = ACTIVE, INTERFACE = Serial3/5.49

input pkts 14845753 output pkts 14934310 in bytes 1312724387

out bytes 2571413967 dropped pkts 41 in pkts dropped 0

out pkts dropped 222 out bytes dropped 52359

late-dropped out pkts 222 late-dropped out bytes 52359

in FECN pkts 0 in BECN pkts 27792 out FECN pkts 0

out BECN pkts 0 in DE pkts 0 out DE pkts 0

...

This is a frame-relay interface configured with FRF.12 fragmentation and a service-policy for QoS.

Thanks

Paulo

Hi Paolo,

Good Day! :-)

Please see below the answer to your query.

(1) in pkts dropped ==> total input packets dropped at FR level

(2) out pkts dropped ==> total output packets dropped at FR level

(3) out bytes dropped ==> total output bytes dropped corresponding to

(2)

(4) late-dropped out pkts ==> total output packets dropped under some

QoS functions, like VC queuing, FRTS, dQoS on c7500; the "output pkts"

field in this same show command would have reflected this drop count.

(5) late-dropped out bytes ==> total output bytes corresponding to

(4);the "out bytes" field in this same show command would have reflected

this drop count.

These are normal operation drops, and should not cause concerns if you are shaping or implementing

QoS.

I hope this information helps. :-)

Best Regards,

Ansley R. Verzosa
