Latest IOS & Modem ver of 3640 RAS Server

Hello ,

We have a 3640 RAS Server with Analog Modem Module on our Network for Dial-in users . Below are the IOS & Modem ver of RAS server. Some of the Dial-in users who have the new models modem have a problem of call back and connecting speed does not go beyond 28.8 kbps . I heard that IOS & modem ver requires update in order to support new models of modem. If so, what is the latest ver ?.

Regards,

Raju

Re: Latest IOS & Modem ver of 3640 RAS Server

Hello,

do you have either the NM-8 or the NM-16AM installed ? If so, you cannot go any higher than 33,600bps (with V.34+) or 28,800bps (with V.34).

Read the following Q&A:

Q. What about 56K? Do the NM-8 and NM-16AM network modules support connection speeds higher than 33.6 kbps?

A. No. The analog modem network modules cannot originate or terminate 56K calls. Use the NM-8AM-V2/NM-16AM-V2, or the WIC-1AM/WIC-2AM for 56K (V.90 and K56Flex) support.

Q. Are there plans to upgrade the current analog modem network modules to support 56K dialout?

A. No. The current NM-8AM and NM-16AM hardware do not allow for the upgrade. Upgrade to the NM-8AM-V2/NM-16AM-V2 or WIC-1AM/WIC-2AM for 56K support.
