I have a layer 2 LAN comprising of 2950 switches. The LAN will use 2 VLANS. The network will not be subnetted therefore a range of ip addresses may be distributed across the 2 VLANS. No Inter-Vlan routing is required. The admin of site wishes both VLANS to use same default g/way of router. Is there any way of doing this with trunk links i.e are the specifically Layer 3 or can they be changed to layer 2?
Alternatively is there any way to do this with a 3550?
Multi-Vlans were a good choice on 3500XL's but Cisco have removed this feature.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
