Layer 3 on 2950

Do 2950's have any layer 3 capabilities? InterVLAN routing etc?

No. The 2950 series have no Layer-3 forwarding functions. They are however Layer-3 aware - you can write ACLs that look at Layer-3/4 addresses and they also understand DSCP (only specific DSCP values though, not the full 68 - I assume an ASIC restriction???). They also support IGMP snooping (again this operates at Layer-3). What you can't do though is create multiple VLAN Interfaces and route between them, if you need this functionality then the 3550 (with the EMI image if you want dynamic routing) is the entry-level Layer-3 device. This has all the features of the 2950 series plus it can route between VLANs (only supports IP though). The 3550 also has a model with inline power for Cisco IP Phones and Wireless Access Points.
